Director of Operations and Founder
Meet Tim Michael, the heart and soul behind our program, serving as the Director of Operations and Founder. Armed with a Bachelors in Journalism from NAU, Tim has devoted 13 years to the industry, driven by his passion for witnessing transformation in people’s lives and supporting them on their recovery journey. Within our company, Tim wears many hats, overseeing aspects of compliance and maintenance, as well as conducting psychoeducational groups. His unique strength lies in sharing his own story with clients to remind them they are not alone on this path. Tim’s greatness is defined by his understanding, compassion, and unwavering dedication to tailoring care for each individual. He wants potential clients to know that every person who walks through our doors is deeply cared for. Tim’s ultimate goal is to ensure that each client leaves our program as a transformed individual, ready to embrace a brighter future.
Maureen (Mo) Michael, LPC
Meet Maureen “Mo” Michael, the Executive Director/Clinical Director here at Compass Recovery Center. With a Masters in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University and 16 years of experience in the industry, Mo is a Certified Trauma Therapist (CTT) with additional qualifications in Accelerated Resolution therapy (ART) and International Certified Gambling Counseling (ICGC-l). Mo’s passion for this line of work stems from her personal journey of recovery, which began in 2007. Having experienced the transformative power of treatment firsthand, she knew she had to help others in the same way. Mo’s specialty lies in trauma therapy and a servant leadership model, and she prides herself on being compassionate, patient, and an excellent listener. She always makes herself available to staff and clients, ensuring that everyone who walks through the center’s doors becomes a part of their caring and supportive family.
Dr. Steven Karp D.O.
Dr. Steven J. Karp is an nationally-respected eating disorder and addiction specialist, becoming one of the pre-eminent experts while Chief Medical Officer at the Rosewood Center and staff psychiatrist at the Meadows, two top-tier behavioral healthcare providers in Wickenburg, Arizona. Dr. Karp is triple Board certified in addiction, adult and geriatric psychiatry and brings over thirty years experience treating addiction and eating disorders. Dr. Karp was Medical Director for the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He completed residency at Norristown State Hospital, Norristown, Pennsylvania. He also served as an associate clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Penn State School of Medicine. Dr Karp combines psychiatric training, empathic listening and motivational interviewing to support people towards lasting change.
Junior Pemberton, LMSW

Meet Junior Pemberton, our Assistant Clinical Director, holding a Bachelor’s in Psychology/Counseling and a Master’s in Social Work from Grand Canyon University. With nine years of experience, Junior’s passion for this industry stems from his own recovery journey. His specialty lies in diverse counseling techniques, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy, CBT, DBT, REBT, and Motivational Interviewing. He believes in the power of perception to help clients break through life’s challenges and fosters self-understanding through philosophy, CBT skills, and spirituality. Junior excels in establishing strong rapport and trusting relationships with clients, aiding in their progress. His exceptional blend of experiences, education, and skills is dedicated to guiding individuals through substance abuse, trauma, and mental health challenges, promoting positive change. Meet Lynne Sansom, our dedicated Primary Clinician with nearly two decades of experience in the field. Lynne’s educational background includes an Associates Degree in Science, Nursing, and she holds various special certifications that enhance her therapeutic practice. Since 2004, her passion has been to connect with others and help them discover their purpose through therapy. Lynne specializes in Inner Child work, grief counseling, and plant therapy. What truly sets her apart are her exceptional qualities of meeting clients where they are, rather than where she wants them to be. This client-centered approach ensures that individuals receive tailored and effective support on their unique journeys. Lynne wants potential clients to know that she understands the complexities of life, having survived domestic violence and childhood and adult trauma herself. She firmly believes that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach in therapy, which is why we offer a range of modalities and facilitators to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Anna Tobin, MA
Meet Anna Tobin, a dedicated therapist with five years of experience in the field. Anna holds a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology and is currently advancing her education with a focus on Clinical Mental Health. Her commitment to helping others stems from a deep desire to guide individuals away from destructive behaviors and addictive thinking patterns. Within our company, Anna serves as a Women’s Trauma Group Facilitator, bringing her personal experiences to the therapy process, fostering a genuine connection with her clients. She is EMDR trained and on the path to becoming a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Machele Necker, our dedicated Clinical Intern, brings a unique blend of education and expertise to our team. With a background in communication and a pursuit of an MS in Counseling, Machele is well-equipped to guide individuals on their journey to wellness. In her two years in the industry, she’s discovered a profound passion for helping people recognize their potential. Machele’s specialty within the company is extensive, covering IFS and Trauma therapy, CBT, DBT, Somatic therapy, mindfulness, breathwork, and perception. With a background in psychology and behavioral health, as well as certifications in Peer Support and previous experience as a BHT, Jeanne excels in her role. Ian’s specialized training in Trauma-informed MI enhances his ability to support individuals effectively. He facilitates dialogue between clients, their parents, and any legal or service entities involved in their journey.
